By Private Vehicle (Chuo Taxi)
Private vehicle is the fastest and most hassle-free way of getting from Central Japan’s 3 major airports (Narita, Haneda or Chubu) to Shiga Kogen or the Snow Monkey Park. Chuo Taxi will pick you up at the International Arrivals Terminal. It is also not significantly more expensive than traveling by train. First Get to Nagano Station
Take the Hokuriku Shinkansen Line from JR Tokyo or JR Ueno Station (both stations have direct lines from Narita International Airport) to Nagano Station (90 minutes). See Timetable Here. From Haneda International Airport, you must take the Tokyo Monorail to Hamamatsucho Station (16 minutes) then change to the JR Yamanote Line to Tokyo Station (7 minutes). Getting to Shiga Kogen
Take the Nagano Dentetsu Line from Nagano Station to Yudanaka Station (40 minutes). See Timetable Here. One Way Adult Price: ¥1,400

Getting to Snow Monkeys
By Train: Take the Nagano Dentetsu Line from Nagano Station to Yudanaka Station (40 minutes). See Timetable Here. One Way Adult Price: ¥1,400
Transfer at Yudanaka Station and go by bus or taxi to the snow monkeys. By bus, take the Nagaden bus towards Hasuike and get off at Kanbayashi Onsen. From here it is a 10 minute walk to the entrance of the snow monkey park. Taxis are readily available outside Yudanaka Station and takes about 5 minutes.
One Way Adult Bus Price: ¥310. One Way Taxi Price: Around ¥1,600 (10% additional surcharge between December and March)
By Bus: 3 direct buses a day leave Nagano Station at 10:15 12:25 and 15:10 and go to the entrance of Jigokudani Monkey Park. They return from Jigokudani to Nagano Station at 10:45, 13:55 and 16:50.
From Yudanaka Station to Snow Monkeys
New Option from Iiyama Station!
Take the Hokuriku Shinkansen Line from JR Tokyo or JR Ueno Station (both stations have direct lines from Narita International Airport) to Iiyama Station (110 minutes) or from Kanazawa Station (75 minutes). Iiyama Station is one stop after Nagano Station when traveling from Tokyo. There is a bus departing from Iiyama Station direct to Shiga Kogen leaving 3 times daily. Please find the timetable below.
